Wonderful video!!! Thank you for the mini-vacation!!
They brought their music? Where did they plug their hi-fis in?
The first settlers were the Scots-Irish, who brought the music with them when they came.
Their music sound more irish than country
Autumn is nice but come on out in the dead of winter and catch a snowfall or a hoarfrost in Cades Cove, it’s something to see.
I agree with TNLand279InclineWay; The fall is the best time for the NC/Tenn mountains. Google leaf report or Fall color watch in the end of September. They will afford you a decent idea of when peak color is. But be aware, everyone else will show up then as well.
@extremlywell It would have to be the fall. All the leaves are changing, you see a lot of wildlife activity, and the weather is never better than in the fall.
what is the best time of the year to visit the park?
love the video and especially the first instumental song. great old time mountain music with that chilling drop in the rythm!
Very cool video

The news today is like communist propaganda. They only tell what they want the way they want and leave out the rest. I think the CCC helped a lot at a time people didn’t have jobs.
dude..this is like communist propaganda ….trust me i was born in communism ..
Apparently you’ve not been to the Smokies. Did you know that Great Smoky Mountains National Park does not charge an entrance fee? Therefore there is no ticket to buy. You can just drive through for free!
Shame on our government! 4000 american’s were displaced from their land and lifestyle.generation’s of hardworking ppl..lost everything so usa could have a ‘playground for the rich and powerful. Firstly these ppl. were dipicted wrongly of being stupid and lazy..secondly they were moved into squalid government houses with small yards. And now in 2011? Land deep into smoky mountains are being sold at outrageous prices.Land should be given back to the mountain ppl.
GREAT OLD FILM OF PARKS BEGINING
dept of the inferior
The smokeys would be great if it wasn’t such a chore to buy a ticket with the national park service…just to drive thru
Thanks for making this documentary available – I have spent many weekends and vacations in the park, and find this film fascinating!
Thank you for posting these videos.
Fascinating to see “back breaking” work for the environment in light of today’s debates.
