As we were all saying at the top, no camera can capture the beauty of this. If you are at the park this is a must. Most beautiful thing I have seen.
Right now the short path is ‘Closed’ but you can go around the closed off part if you are short on time. We took the long way ‘Appalachian trail’ I believe it was called, and it was an amazing hike totally worth it if you have the time.

  2. Nice hike. What are the little moving white things y’all are going to grab at 1:55 ?

  3. Loved this trail. Hiked it today. Was epic in all aspects.

  4. To me going up was not bad, it was coming down that bout killed me…LOL. My toes hurt SO bad!!! I would climb it again in a second though, gorgeous and worth every ache!

  5. Has anyone seen that little squirrel’s rabid cousin down where she ate pizza?

  6. GreatSmokyMountains says:

Hmmm. I’ll have to let someone else answer that one. I’m not sure what conditions would warrant shoes for someone who may be an avid barefoot hiker. This is an unpaved rocky, rooty, fairly steep trail.

I hiked the trail three days ago, Ive been from The Niagara Falls to Yellowstone National Park and i think the view from the top is the most beautiful I’ve ever seen.

    great vid..

  9. John Christenson says:

I hiked this 2/26/12. The little squirrel is still up there and doing well.

  10. Joseph Dooley says:

I hiked this Aug. 2 with my little sister, and we stopped about 2/3 of the way up the scramble. Some people just have a gift and flew up the sheer face no problem. Definitely the most intimidating scramble I’ve ever attempted!

  11. Mike Ingram says:

Climbin it this weekend and looking forward to it. Although in August I’m going to Colorado and hikin some 12’s, 13’s, and 14ers. So this will be a nice little practice.

  12. My wife and I climbed up via the far side once and nearly died. Think that trail is closed down now . If not, I don’t recommend it !

  13. mrmooseattack1 says:

When I climbed it was raining and real windy and I almost slipped and died

  14. Good for you. I wouldn’t dare even though I would love to have the guts for it.

  15. don’t waste your time with this mole hill–hike to le conte–it is usually packed to the hilt also

  16. Michael Ozark says:

Once you have climbed to the second peak of chimney tops then you will have conquered it. I do it all the time. Anyway, chimney tops looks like a little speck from the top of Mt. Leconte.

  17. This is in my backyard. :)

  18. that’s so neat. my family and I went there. We didn’t have a camera so that’s real awesome we can look at this!!!!

  19. omg you dork. very nice job though i couldn’t do something like that. this is justin by the way
