Nice Southern Living photos

Week 20: Sesame-Pecan Chicken

It was coated in sesame seeds, paprika, flour, and finely chopped pecans. ‘Southern Living’ said to dunk it in corn oil before baking, but that sounded strange – so I fried each piece a little to harden the coating before baking them.

Southern Live Oak (Quercus virginiana)

Hung with Spanish moss (Tillandsia usneoides), at Washington Oak Gardens State Park, Florida.
These trees are evergreen, hence the common name.
What a wonderful place to visit–all this, and, a short walk away, the beach and the surf.
Found along FL highway A1A. And very few people, at least in October.
Check out my "Florida" SET.

Quick Pâté Spread

A few nice southern living images I found:

Quick Pâté Spread

This recipe is very simple: Beat 1 8-oz pkg cream cheese until light and fluffy. Add 1 8-oz pkg liverwurst, 2 TBS finely chopped onion, 1 tsp chicken-flavored bouillon granules. Chill and serve w/ crackers. Thanks to Cathy Darling of Grafton, WV, for sending the recipe to Southern Living (which is where almost all of my party-food recipes have come from through the years). This picture shows the recipe doubled, btw.

Week 19 – Cheddar Egg Scramble

From Southern Living – I think it was basically Scrambled Eggs, but they called it a fancy name and you were supposed to throw a green pepper in there – which I wouldn’t want – but it did call for seasoned salt, which was interesting. They were pretty fluffy..
